Neat Programming #3

Creating a button and an in-page action.

The code for this is quite straight forward. First we put in a piece of HTML script into the head element, giving it an 'id', then we call it from here.

The code I put in the header is as follows;

function displayResult() { document.getElementById("neat").innerHTML="To something else"; }

As you can see, it is using a function called 'displayResult()'. This is an actually JavaScript using DOM Objects. Because it is a script from another language, it is enclosed in the

<script> & </script> tags and stored in the <head> area. Remember the head does not show on the page, but is fully processed.

Now we have created an ID called 'neat' and can use this in ordinary HTML tags.

<h1 id="neat">Change this text</h1>

Then we will create a button

<button onclick="displayResult()">Change this text</button>

Like this.

This is quite a neat little thing to do and with a bit of playing you could do all kinds of things.
